Mango Banana Lassi

A lassi, or fruit smoothie, is an excellent choice for breakfast or an afternoon snack.  This version contains the vitamins and minerals from the mango, the beneficial bacteria from the yogurt, and the good Omega-3 fat from the freshly ground flax seed, plus the all health benefits from the raw honey.  This is a great example of a God-made food that is incredibly healing and delicious.

Ingredients:

1 mango
1 banana
1 - 2 Tbl. flax seed, freshly ground
10 - 15 ice cubes
2 - 4 Tbl. raw, unfiltered honey
1 pint (2 cups) plain unsweetened yogurt

Place mango, banana, ground flax seeds and ice cubes into a blender.  Blend on high until very smooth.

Next add the honey* and yogurt and blend on low speed just until mixed up well.  I use my homemade yogurt but Stonyfield Whole Milk Plain Yogurt is a good choice if you are buying your yogurt.

Serve immediately.

If you have extra, you can pour it into popsicle molds and freeze.

Makes 3 - 4 servings.

*The amount of honey you use will depend on the ripeness of the mango and on how sweet you need it. I typically use 2 Tbl. of honey in ours, unless fixing it for someone who is transitioning from man-made sweets who is still craving sugar.  Then I add more, about 4 Tbl. of honey.  While raw, unfiltered honey is good for you, too much is not beneficial.

"Do you like honey? Don't eat too much, or it will make you sick!"  Proverbs 25:16
