Fruited Yogurt

Making your own fruited yogurt is incredibly easy and much healthier than buying it from the store.  It will last many days in the refrigerator if you don't eat it all at once.  It is possible to make your own fruited yogurt even if you are not making your own homemade yogurt.

Ingredients:

1 quart of plain, whole milk yogurt (don't buy low fat or nonfat varieties)
1 - 2 cups of fruit* (use a fruit that is in season)
1 - 2 Tbl raw unfiltered honey (as your taste buds adjust to less sweetness, cut down on the amount of honey or skip completely)
1 - 2 Tbl freshly ground flax seed (increase quantity as your body adjusts to the flax)

*  flavors we enjoy include strawberry/banana, raspberry, peach or mango/banana.

Place fruit (fresh organic or frozen organic) in food processor and puree.  Place pureed fruit in a large bowl and add honey and freshly ground flax seed.  Stir well.  Next add yogurt, either homemade or a good quality plain non-homogenized yogurt from the store, and gently stir.  Dish into bowls and top with homemade granola or additional fresh fruit.

  1. This recipe is a must and so so easy! It also tastes way better than the store bought fruited yogurt. I've made my own squeezable yogurt using small plastic snack bags and freezing them for a summer treat. Thanks for sharing, Mary!
